Mawle Looks Upon Half A Yellow Sun

Joseph Mawle has joined the film adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's bestselling novel Half of a Yellow Sun says Variety.

The story follows several characters including a university professor (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and his girlfriend (Thandie Newton), their houseboy ("Attack the Block" star John Boyega) along with several more and sets it against the backdrop of the Nigerian Civil War in the late 60's when southern Nigeria attempted to secede and form their own country.

Mawle plays an English writer.


Dominic Cooper will play a British ex-patriot studying in Nigeria.

Nigerian playwright Biyi Bandele will be making his directorial debut on the film

Andrea Calderwood and Gail Egan are producing the film.

The pic is currently shooting in Nigeria and London.
