Wanted Sequel Writer Speaks!

"Wanted" co-scribe Derek Haas told Hollywood.com that he and partner Michael Brandt are indeed writing the long talked about Wanted 2.

Based on the Mark Milar created comics, the 2008 film followed an accounts manager (James McAvoy) who learns his father was a professional assassin for a secret guild, and soon takes over his job. Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman also starred.

Making an impressive $341 million worldwide on a $75 million budget, talk of a sequel began soon after but really zip zero nada since.

Haas says that he and Brandt are finishing up their second draft of the sequel's script after the studio suits invited them back last year.

Haas says: "We got that call that you always love as a screenwriter. 'Can you guys please come back?' We loved the world. That experience was great. We said, 'Well here's what we want to do with the sequel.' And they said, 'Okay.'"

Jolie's Fox character will NOT be resurrected as earlier rumored.  This time-McAvoy's Wesley character will be the mentor.

Haas says: "The will pick up the story four years later. It's 'Where is Wesley four years after the events of the first movie?' The only thing I can tell you is that Wesley is now, four years later, recruiting a young woman who is in his situation in the first movie. She's got a sh**ty life. He's sort of in the Fox role. This new girl is brought into the world."
