Arnold Schwarzenegger is stepping back into the boots of one his most famous film persona's for "The Legend Of Conan" reports Deadline.
This film is not a reboot or re imagination of Robert E. Howard's mythology like last year's "Conan" starring Jason Momoa, It also apparently ignores the events in the 1984 sequel "Conan the Destroyer". Instead it's a direct sequel to John Milius' original "Conan the Barbarian," one that takes the thirty years that have passed into account in the storyline.
Producer Fredrik Malmberg "The original ended with Arnold on the throne as a seasoned warrior, and this is the take of the film we will make. It’s that Nordic Viking mythic guy who has played the role of king, warrior, soldier and mercenary, and who has bedded more women than anyone, nearing the last cycle of his life. He knows he’ll be going to Valhalla, and wants to go out with a good battle."
Scribe Chris Morgan (Fast Five, Wanted) crafted the story and nicknames it "Conan’s Unforgiven." He could also be writing the script depending upon his schedule. Morgan will also produce.
They are still trying to figure out whether the film will be R-rated like the original--they still intend to keep the darker and more brutal elements depicting the hardship of the original movie setting.
Universal Pictures has owned the worldwide film rights for 30 years and reportedly wants the film out on the quick with a Summer 2014 release date already set.
