31 Days Of Horror Day 28: Maniac

Director Jason Christopher comes face to face with a Maniac as this special month long event celebrating horror decides to cancel its plams.

In 1980 William Lustig released this horrifying movie. This flick kicked off the 80’s slasher craze going full force with a movie like Maniac.

Frank Zito is a deeply disturbed man, haunted by the traumas of unspeakable childhood abuse. And when these horrific memories begin to take over his mind, Frank prowls the seedy streets of New York City to stalk and slaughter innocent young women. Now Frank has begun a relationship with a beautiful photographer, yet his vile compulsions remain. These are the atrocities of a human monster!

Kick ass flick right here! Joe Spinell play Frank Zito perfectly. The dude was kind of creepy looking without trying to murder chicks, now he’s just ultra the scare in this movie. Joe Spinell was in The Godfather and an executive producer on Rocky, believe it or not.

Tom Savini does phenomenal special FX. The dude seriously is a genius and I’m so glad that I met him a few times. The shotgun scene? C’mon! It is amazing!

Blue Underground released the DVD of this and it’s pretty decent. Quality is pretty good, has a ton of special features, definitely worth checking out! So do go out and enjoy yourself with a solid scare…Maniac!

3 days till Halloween.
