The true story follows Edgar Valdez, a Texan high school football player who became the only U.S. citizen to rise to the level of cartel leader in Mexico. Based in Acapulco and nicknamed 'La Barbie', he moved millions in drugs from Colombia and brutally executed his rivals.
"American Sniper" scribe Jason Hall has been hired to write the adapted script with Hunnam using the Rolling Stone 2011article as the basis for the project.
