Taron Egerton Is "Eddie The Eagle"

The Daily Mail says that Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton ("Kingsman: The Secret Service) are set for the long in development biopic "Eddie the Eagle"

The story deals with Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards (Egerton), the first British ski jumper in Olympic history. He may have came last in both of his ski jumping events at the 1988 Winter Olympic Games in Calgary, but became a media sensation just the same

Jackman will play Chuck Berghorn, a ski jumping expert from Lake Placid who helps Eddie train.

Egerton got the part after a "magical screen test" with Jackman, and beat out George MacKay and Jamie Bell for the part.

Timothy Spall is sought for the role of Eddie's father.

Dexter Fletcher ("Wild Bill") is directing from a script by Simon Kelton and Sean Macaulay.

Matthew Vaughn is attached to produce the film.

Production hopes to begin this spring.
