Lots Of "X-Men: Apocalypse" Chatter

We know that Oscar Isaac has inked a deal to play the coveted role of the bad guy in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse"

The younger actors introduced in "X-Men: First Class" James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto) Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast) and Lucas Till (Alex “Havok” Summers), etc. are contracted for three films and are locked in to return.

This time the mutants will take on Apocalypse, aka. En Sabah Nur. In the comics, En Sabah Nur is the world's first mutant who was born in Egypt around 3,000 BC and had access to advanced technology.

We were told that the studio originally wanted "Inception" and "The Dark Knight Rises" actor Tom Hardy to play the bad guy in the film. But he is also being courted to star in Fury and "End of Watch" director David Ayer's film version of the DC Entertainment's "Suicide Squad" comic book as well.

The character was teased in the post-credits scene of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" (Played by Brendan Pedder).

Issac tells MTV News that the iconic bad guy will very much live up to his name: "I’ve seen a couple things... Scary s–t. Scary s–t… I’m going to bring [the X-Men] down to their knees. It’s amazing, I’m so excited about everything that’s going to happen."

Chloe Moretz, Hailee Steinfeld, Elle Fanning, Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet were all under consideration for the two key roles of  younger incarnations of Jean Grey and Cyclops in the 1980s-set film The adult incarnations of the characters were played by Famke Janssen and in various chapters of the film series.

Moretz and Fanning have reportedly met with Singer in recent weeks for the young Jean Grey part-- Yesterday Taron Egerton ("Kingsman: The Secret Service), Jamie Blackley ("If I Stay"), and Tye Sheridan ("Mud") were said to be in the mix to play young Cyclops. They add Alexandra Shipp and Zendaya Coleman are being considered for a young Storm, and Sophie Turner and Saoirse Ronan are up for Grey.

Jeff Sneider of The Wrap revealed via his Twitter page that Sheridan is the front runner for Cyclops, while Moretz passed on the Grey role. Singer is going with an established name for Jean because the role is expected to recur in future movies.

Meanwhile, "Kingsman" co-star Egerton appeared at a post-screening Q&A for that film last night where he was asked about the rumor.

He says (via CBM): "I really can't comment on the Cyclops thing. I'm not really sure what's going on there or where that [rumor] came from, but my friend Nicholas Hoult plays Beast and he says that's very fun. Of course, everyone would like to play a superhero, but this is by no means me saying I would like to go play Cyclops. So, I don't know."

It is likely that Channing Tatum will debut as the X-Men mutant Gambit here before getting a solo film

"X2: X-Men United" and "Superman Returns" screenwriters Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris as well as Simon Kinberg are writing the script for "Apocalypse" .

Production is slated to begin in the Spring. The film will hit theaters on May 27, 2016 opposite Alice in Wonderland 2
