Nicolas Cage will star in the World War II movie "USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage" says Variety.
The story follows Capt. Charles B. McVay III (Cage) whose ship the USS Indianapolis was torpedoed in the South Pacific in July 1945 after delivering parts for the first atomic bombs. Nine hundred survived the sinking of the ship, but almost two-thirds of them died due to exposure, dehydration, saltwater poisoning, and shark attacks as they waited for help. McVay was court-martialed then exonerated more than half a century later.
Cam Cannon wrote the script from which Mario Van Peebles will call action here.
Richard Rionda Del Castro will produce the film.
Production begins June 10th in Mobile, Alabama. The film is currently targeting a Memorial Day 2016 debut/
