Latino Review reports that an offer is out to Jake Gyllenhaall (pictured) to play Dastan the upcoming film version of the video game-franchise "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time".
The latest rumor comes after news from the same site that Orlando Bloom isn't going to be playing the role - rumors of Bloom's involvement spread like butter all over the place earlier this week.
The story follows an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world
There's a monkey in the wrench though - Gyllenhaal hurt his ankle playing basketball last month, and he's still recovering. The role requires its inhabitant do a significant amount of free running. Will Gyllenhaal have the time to recuperate properly?
Some also question whether or not Gyllenhaal has the right look matching the game counterpart in the first place...Those issues could be dealt with in any number of ways I suppose. Since I knew nothing about the game until now it's hard for me to say that he's not right at all...I would think the ankle stuff would keep him away from the part more than anything else....
