Dan Radcliffe and Lily Rabe were linked to join the film version of "The Lucky One" according to producer Christine Vachon's Twitter account (via Slashfilm). But now that may not be the case...Based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks the story follows a Marine who returns to North Carolina having survived three tours of duty in Iraq. He attributes his good luck to a photo he has always carried with him, a photo of a woman he's never met. Now that he's returned, he sets out to meet her.
Here's the wrinkle. Last year Doug McGrath signed on to both pen and direct the adaptation, and Vachon's tweet mentions specifically "Doug McGrath’s script reading".
Last week ago it was reported that Scott Hicks was in negotiations to direct using a script by Will Fetters. Vachon's tweets are no longer visible on her account.
