Perk-A-Later

"Scott Pilgrim vs. the World"'s Mae Whitman is in final negotiations to join the indie coming-of-age drama  Perks of Being a Wallflower says Variety.



Based upon Stephen Chbosky’s novel the story follows the trials and tribulations of a 15-year-old shy and unpopular high school student (Logan Lerman) who writes a series of letters to a mysterious penpal.

Whitman will play Mary Elizabeth, a tattooed vegetarian who becomes his first girlfriend.

Emma Watson also stars.

Chbosky adapted the screenplay and makes his feature directorial debut on the project.

Lianne Halfon and Russell Smith will produce while actor John Malkovich will serve as an executive producer.

Shooting kicks off next month in Pittsburgh.
