Louis Zamperini Biopic Might Actually Happen

Universal might finally be able to tell the story of Louis Zamperini, an Olympian who went on to become a POW during World War II.

Deadline Hollywood reports that Walden Media will help Universal finance the film, which will derive from the Laura Hillenbrand book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption.

At the moment, it looks like Francis Lawrence and Richard LaGravenese, who respectively directed and wrote Water for Elephants, will sign on for directing and writing duties.

This film has been more or less in pre-production stages since the 1950s; Universal purchased the rights during that decade, planning for the late Tony Curtis to play Zamperini upon finishing Spartacus.
