“Big Man Japan” Getting Remade in the States

The popular Japanese film Dai Nippon Jin, also known as Big Man Japan, will be remade by Columbia Pictures for American audiences according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Veteran actor Hitoshi Matsumoto wrote, directed, and acted in the original feature, a blend of science-fiction and comedy that focuses on a man who turns into a giant on occasion.

The original film was a hit overseas and picked up an Asian Film Award nomination for its visual effects; it was released on DVD in the States after a limited run in May of 2009.
