Levy Romances Frankenstein

Deadline reports that the studio seems to be nixing the film remake and instead going another route- a TV series for NBC

Director Shawn Levy would act as executive producer and will likely call action on the pilot which "centers on a successful woman who teams up with an adventurer on weekly missions…her ultimate goal is to find her missing brother".

That differs somewhat from the film. diected by Robert Zemeckis that followed lovelorn romance novelist Joan Wilder (Kathleen Turner) who heads to Colombia to rescue her kidnapped sister. Becoming lost in the jungle, she's saved by soldier of fortune Jack Colton (Michael Douglas) and the pair set out to reach Cartagena while avoiding the private army of the country's murderous secret police chief. Mudslides, treacherous ravines, crashed planes, drug lords, alligators, the kidnapper's inept brother (Danny DeVito), and a giant emerald are all thrown into the mix.

"The Forgotten" creator Mark Friedman will write the pilot.

It has not been confirmed yet if the movie remake is officially dead but with news of  the TV reboot , but it's now looking like that is the case...

This news comes on the heels of  word that Levy will indeed direct a big screen as yet Untitled Frankenstein Project says Variety

One of no less than six 'Stien" films in development around Hollywood...This one was penned by Max Landis  and has been described as having a sci-fi spin on the classic story. And focusing on themes of friendship and redemption The pic will tell its tale through the eyes of Igor, Victor Frankenstein’s assistant.

While there is no word on any sort of production timetable this seems to be the Frankenstein film with the most momentum
