Emily VanCamp Lands Cap 2 Female Lead

Revenge star Emily VanCamp has entered negotiations to play the female lead in the comic book sequel "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" says Deadline.

The story is expected to follow the acclaimed comic storyline The Winter Soldier in which Captain America's (Chris Evans) sidekick Bucky (Sebastian Stan) is resurrected as a brainwashed super-assassin known as the Winter Solider.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead seemingly had "the most traction" for the role of the female lead that follows that Peggy's (played by Hayley Atwell in Captain America: The First Avenger) niece Sharon meets Cap. That was pre-holidays and things obvviously changed since that time.

I have seen some of VanCamp's TV work and I like her a lot--excited to see her opposite Evans on the big screen.

Other actresses in contention lncluded Emilia Clarke Jessica Brown Findlay Teresa Palmer Imogen Poots and Alison Brie

Sam Wilson, can telepathically talk to birds and has a suit that allows him to fly and enhances his strength. Scarlett Johansson will also show up as Black Widow in the film. How big a role she'll play is also unknown. Cobie Smulders will reprise her role of Maria Hill. She joins her boss in The Avengers co-star Samuel L. Jackson for the film. Frank Grillo ("The Grey," "Warrior") will play the villain Crossbones in the sequel. Toby Jones, has confirmed to Hey U Guys that he will reprise the role of the villain Armin Zola
