"Cedar Rapids" and "Youth in Revolt" helmer Miguel Arteta will now direct the live-action adaptation of author Judith Viorst's children's book "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" says Deadline.
The story follows a day in the life of Alexander, a young boy whose bad day sees him consider a move to Australia.
Steve Carell is set to play the boy’s father.
Lisa Cholodenko ("The Kids Are All Right") was previously supposed to direct the project but recently dropped out. She and Rob Lieber wrote the adapted script.
Shawn Levy is producing.
