Some key details have been released about "Heat" and "Collateral" director Michael Mann's as yet Untitled Cyberthriller via THR.
The project is described as a partly Hong Kong-set cyber-thriller which sees American and Chinese agents teaming up for a task force to pursue a common adversary - a hacker engaging in cyber-theft who hails from the Balkans and is now based somewhere in Southeast Asia.
"Thor" star Chris Hemsworth will take the lead role in the project. Mann has been location scouting around Hong Kong, and the likes of Wei Tang, Cheung Ka-fai and Shawn Yue have all reportedly had meetings with Mann about acting in the pic
Mann is co-writing the script with Morgan Davis Foehl (Mass Effect) and has been developing the project for over a year. Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing the movie.
This will be Mann's first directing effort since 2009's "Public Enemies".
Hemsworth is free since Steven Spielberg put the sci-fi film Robopocalypse on hold indefinitely and "Snow White and the Huntsman 2" is moving at a snail's pace at best.
