While chatting with GQ, actor Robert Downey Jr. talked about leaving the role of Tony Stark as Shane Black's Iron Man 3 marks the end of his contract with Marvel.
The 47-year-old Downey says when he sustained an ankle injury while filming "Iron Man 3," that: got me thinking about how big the message from your cosmic sponsor needs to be before you pick it up. How many genre movies can I do? How many follow-ups to a successful follow-up are actually fun?"
He hinted that when he turns 50 that could be it for him as far as action tentpole movies. RDJ was asked if he would stop at 50, he says: "I don’t know. Right now I don’t have a contract to do anything, and I did for the last five years."
RDJ makes total sense here--still what make it difficult is that it's hard to think of anyome else playing the role of Stark
Downey also admits, thanks to his back-end deal he was paid around $50 million bucks for his work in "The Avengers" - a sum even he finds excessive...
IM 3 hits May 3rd 2013 in the states--also Getting an IMAX Release
