The Black Listed script by director Ted Melfi follows a 12-year old boy who, in the wake of his parents' divorce, forms an unlikely friendship with the misanthropic war veteran and retiree (Bill Murray) living next door whose life mainly consists of drinking, gambling and prostitutes. The elder soon becomes an unlikely mentor.
Watts will play a Russian prostitute who develops a close relationship with Murray's character
Bridesmaids star Chris O'Dowd plays a priest that is shocked to discover how well the young man and Murray’s character get along. Fellow Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy also stars as the boy's hard-working single mother who takes the risk of leaving her son in the care of a Murray.
Fred Roos will produce the film.
Production will start in July.
