"Weird Science" Gets A Remake

Universal Pictures has plans for a remake of John Hughes' classic 1985 comedy "Weird Science" says Deadline.

The original film followed two nerds (Anthony Michael Hall and Ilan Mitchell-Smith) who attempt to create the perfect woman to fulfil their sexual desires. Even as they succeed in creating her (Kelly LeBrock), they soon learn she is far more than a sex object.

Robert Downey Jr. and Bill Paxton co-starred.

The new version is expected to have a slightly edgier tone and could easily be R-rated with a script by Michael Bacall ("Project X," "21 Jump Street").

Joel Silver, who produced the original, will return here to work with Andrew Rona
