Summit Entertainment has acquired the film rights to author William Paul Young's 2007 novel "The Shack" says Deadline.
After a devastating personal tragedy, Mackenzie Allen Philips receives a mysterious note in his mailbox inviting him to The Shack. The letter is signed Papa, his wife’s nickname for God. Mack responds and finds himself in the presence of God, and a life-transforming journey of truth, forgiveness, and ultimately acceptance.
John Fusco, who is also writing Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2 is set to pen the adapted script.
Gil Netter("Life of Pi," "The Blind Side") and Brad Cummings will
produce the film.
