"Saw" and "Insidious" filmmaker James Wan's upcoming supernatural film "The Conjuring" is getting quite the buzz says the Peli Blog.
Warner Bros. suits are very happy with the film, especially after reports of early test screenings garnered positive reviews. As a result, the release date has been moved up from February to a much higher profile mid-Summer debut on July 13th.
The Motion Picture Association of America has reportedly given the film an R-rating. However, the rating isn't for gore - or a specific scene, but rather overall creepiness.
Producer Walter Hamada says "When we sent it [to MPAA], they gave us the R-rating. When we asked them why, they basically said, 'It's just so scary. [There are] no specific scenes or tone you could take out to get it PG-13'"
Wan adds that: "It's a testament to the studio for not f*cking with the film. It works and they are sticking to it and I'm very thankful for that."
The film is inspired by the House of Darkness House of Light and the Perron family who claimed they "lived among the dead" in the 1970s as spirits both friendly and sinister inhabited their Rhode Island farmhouse.
In the pic Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star as supernatural investigators looking into the case of a family who claims their Rhode Island farmhouse is inhabited by spirits. Ron Livingston, and Lili Taylor will play the roles of Mr. and Mrs. Perron.
