Sam Elliott has joined the football film "Draft Day" says Deadline.
Kevin Costner plays the general manager of an American football team struggling to find the right player to select with their top overall pick. Denis Leary will play Vince Penn, the new head coach of the Cleveland Browns, who finds himself at odds with Costner.
Elliott plays a college coach whose quarterback is a top NFL draft pick.
Ellen Burstyn will play Costner’s tough mother, whose football coach of a husband just passed away and must now deal with her son. While Josh Pence ("The Dark Knight Rises") will play the expected first pick in the NFL draft. Frank Langella will play Harvey Molina, the fictional owner of the team. Jennifer Garner will play the secretary of Costner's character. 42 star Chadwick Boseman will play Louisiana outside linebacker Vontae Mack. Former Smallville star Tom Welling will play Brian Drew, a veteran quarterback in the crossroads of his career.
Sean Combs Terry Crews Chi McBride, David Ramsey, and Arian Foster (who actually plays for the Houston Texans as RB) co-star.
Ivan Reitman is directing from a screenplay by Rajiv Joseph and Scott Rothman.
Ali Bell Tom Pollock and Reitman will produce the film.
Part of the film was shot at the recent NFL draft that took place at Radio City Music Hall and then moved to Cleveland.
