Oscar-winning director Susanne Bier ("In a Better World") is in talks to direct the biopic "Mary Queen of Scots" says Screen Daily.
Saoirse Ronan ("Atonement," "Hanna") is attached to play Mary Stuart, the Scottish queen who famously attempted (and failed) to overthrow her English cousin Queen Elizabeth the I of England
in the 16th century. She was ultimately imprisoned and executed.
Acclaimed playwright Penelope Skinner ("How I Live Now") will team with "Elizabeth" and "The Tudors" writer Michael Hirst on the script.
Production begins sometime next year.
