O'Dowd And Others Join Frears' Armstrong Biopic

Screen Daily reports that Chris O'Dowd, Guillaume Canet and Jesse Plemons have joined Stephen Frears' Untitled Lance Armstrong Biopic.

The film will span  Lance Armstrong's (Ben Foster) career from his cancer ordeal to the doping scandal that destroyed it.

O’Dowd plays David Walsh, a sports writer with The Sunday Times who at first charmed and then was ostracised by the cycling community for speaking the truth. It takes several years, but ultimately Armstrong is exposed as the doping scandal gets worldwide media attention.

John Hodge ("Trance," "Trainspotting") adapted the script from Walsh's book "Seven Deadly Sins".

Production is due to begin on Friday on location in France in the UK.

The project isn't to be confused with several rival Armstrong films in the pipeline including an untitled project with Jay Roach (Game Change) attached to direct from a script by Scott Z. Burns (Contagion), the J.J. Abrams' produced "Cycle Of Lies"--an adaptation of New York Times reporter Juliet Macur's  book at Paramount, or the soon to be released documentary "The Armstrong Lie".
