13-year old actress Hailee Steinfeld has beat out more than 15,000 teenage girls to score the lead role in the Coen brothers version of the John Wayne western classic True Grit" says says Deadline Hollywood. Based on Charles Portis novel, the story follows 14-year-old Mattie Ross (Steinfeld) who, along with an aging and hard-drinking U.S. marshal (Jeff Bridges) tracks her father's killer in hostile Indian territory and must reach him before a Texas Ranger (Matt Damon) does.
