Screenwriter/director Shane Black is set to helm the film adaptation of 1930's/40's pulp comic hero "Doc Savage" says Variety. The "Lethal Weapon" creator will also co-write the screenplay with Anthony Bagarozzi (his partner on the upcoming pic Cold Warrior) and Chuck Mondry.
The film version of the heroic adventurer with near-superhuman skills and intelligence will be set in the 1930's and will include The Fabulous Five, five recurring companions who each appeared in different books.
Neal Moritz will produce the pic.
Black has been attached since Octobrt when Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman were gonna produce but they have since stepped back.
