Black Snow

Director Brett Ratner wants to jump on Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland bandwagon with a new adaptation of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" says Deadline.

Simply called "Snow White",the script is being wtitten by Melisa Wallack ("Meet Bill")-- closer in tone to the original Brothers Grimm stories..

Ratner says "Melisa went back to the 500 year old folk tale and put in some of the things that were missing from Walt Disney's film. His dwarves were miners, and here they are robbers. There is also a dragon that was in the original folk tale. Walt made one of the great movies of all time, but ours is edgy and there is more comedy. The original, made for its time, was soft compared to what we're going to do."

Ugh!

Aside from Disney, at least half a dozen adaptations of "the story have been made over the years. Ratner's idea sounds like hybrids the Disney film and the Snow White: A Tale of Terror -- a telefilm from 1997 that's was a gothic horror interpretation
