Heroes" and "Battlestar Galactica" producer Mark Verheiden is being tapped to join the big-budget film and TV adaptation of Stephen King's fantasy book series The Dark Tower reports Deadline
The famed novels are being turned into a feature film trilogy and a two-season TV series. Akiva Goldsman is writing the first film and will co-write the TV series with Verheiden who will also executive produce the series
Good call Verheiden has solid genre cred!!
The story is set in alternate world that resembles the Old West but with magical elements, and focuses on the last member of an ancient order of "gunslingers" (Javier Bardem) and his quest toward a tower that's a nexus to various universes.
Howard plans to direct the initial film as well as the first TV season that will create a bridge to the second feature...helping Goldsman and fellow producer Brian Grazer on this massive undertaking
Production on the first film hopes to start in September.
