Lone Scherfig has been in the film industry for quite some time, but she recently snagged herself a hit with the 2009 British drama An Education. She then got tapped to helm the romantic drama One Day.
Now Scherfig will tackle an historical epic.
She’ll be at the helm of Music and Silence, a historical epic about King Christian IV of Denmark as he struggles for his marriage and his kingdom juxtaposed with a story of young servants in love with one another. BBC Films’ Christine Langan calls the novel “sexy, funny and passionate”.
Mrs. Henderson Presents scribe Martin Sherman adapted Rose Tremain’s acclaimed novel for the feature. Screen Daily reports that the film currently aims to begin shooting early next year in time for a 2013.
