Mary Elizabeth Winstead will star in the psychological horror thriller "The Darkness" says Screen Daily.
Somewhat based upon the classic novella "The Turn of the Screw", by Henry James--the story follows a young American student working for a charismatic tutor in an English manor house. She soon becomes convinced that she and the children she is loooking after are being haunted.
The story was adapted into a 1950 play and its 1961 film adaptation called "The Innocents" starring Deborah Kerr --that film--is considered one of the best psychological thrillers of all time
"The Last Exorcism"'s Daniel Stamm helms the film from a script by Megan Holley ("Sunshine Cleaning").
Joe Neurauter, Felipe Marino and Ben Forkner are set to produce.
Production kicks off in Europe this Summer.
