Chastain Joins Iron Man 3

Jessica Chastain is once again in the mix to play a key role in writer/director Shane Black's "Iron Man 3" reports Deadline.


The story is based on the popular six-issue mini series "Extremis" by Warren Ellis--the film's events take place after The Avengers. The plot involves the spread of a virus through nanobots.

Chastain was previously offered the role but scheduling issues forced her to pass. leading actresses like Diane Kruger, Gemma Arterton and Isla Fisher to meet for the part but none of them were locked down.

Now  scheduling has worked out so that Chastain can now be in the pic.

The role is said to be a "sexy scientist every bit as smart as Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.)", that will likely turn out out to be the character of Dr. Maya Hansen who developed the Extremis nanotechnology.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle Scarlett Johansson Guy Pearce and the recently cast bad guy Ben Kingsley star.

Production kicks off in May in North Carolina.
