A reel of disconnected scenes from Christopher Nolan's sequel The Dark Knight Rises was unvieled by the director this week at CinemaCon (formerly called ShoWest) in Vegas.
The big news about the footage is that concerns over the so called Bane problem are pretty much over - either the new sound mix or additional ADR has resulted in the Bane (Tom Hardy) dialogue now sounding much clearer.
**VERY MINOR SPOILERS NEXT PARAGRAPH**
Along with wide shots of mass riots, bridges exploding, and the Tumbler in action, much of the preview showcases an ill and/or injured Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) recovering. There's also Bruce making out with the Marion Cotillard character, Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway) working in disguise as a maid at Wayne Manor, and some interaction between Batman and Catwoman.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt Josh Pence, Alon Aboutboul and Nestor Carbonell star along with a return of the trilogy's ensemble cast such as Morgan Freeman Gary Oldman and Michael Caine Cillian Murphy and Liam Neeson might also be making cameos
Matthew Modine Tom Conti Joey King Daniel Sunjata Diego Klattenhoff Christopher Judge "CSI: Miami" co-star Adam Rodriguez and Burn Gorman take on secondary roles. Rob Brown and Italian actor Massi Furlan have small roles in the film as well
Nolan called action on the DKR from a screenplay he wrote with bro Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Nolan and David S. Goyer that features Bane (Hardy) and Catwoman (Hathaway) plotting to take down Batman (Bale).
The reaction to the 'Knight' footage seemed to be unanimously positive. The new trailer was NOT screened, that trailer will play before Joss Whedon's "The Avengers" on May 4th.
Lastly there are three new promo images from the pic can be seen at FlickDaily.
The sequel is set to hit theaters on July 20th, 2012.
