Based on true events, Patel will play a young Indian man trying to escape vengeful parents who want to kill him and his girlfriend to stop them marrying.
Collette will play Sally Lane, an Emmy-winning journalist who is drawn into the danger while covering the story.
The film is written and will be directed by Kiss or Kill’s Bill Bennett.
Bennett and Anupam Sharma are producing the pic.
Production kicks off in North India in late October.
