Leo & Schweiger Are "Country" Folk

Melissa Leo and Til Schweiger have joined the action romance "The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman" says Variety.

Matt Drake wrote the Black List script which follows a young man named Charlie (Shia Labeouf) who, after the death of his mother, heads to Europe to find himself. There, he meets a girl (Evan Rachel Wood) and falls in love. As it turns out she's the girlfriend of an insanely violent crime boss (Mads Mikkelsen) with a gang of thugs at his disposal.

Schweiger will play a Serbian gangster and former paramilitary fighter named Darko who runs a Budapest strip club. Leo has been cast LaBeouf's late mother whose spirit visits to advise him.

James Buckley ("The Inbetweeners") is being sought for a supporting role.

The duo behind Little Miss Sunshine, Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa, are set to produce the pic along with The Kite Runner‘s Bill Horberg and Craig J. Flores

Commercial director Fredrik Bond will be at the helm.

Production kicks off early May in Eastern Europe
