TDKR Was Shot 50% In IMAX!

Ever since director Christopher Nolan and his director of photography Wally Pfister shot segments of "The Dark Knight" using IMAX cameras, the pair have exstolled the format and stated they would have loved to have shot all of "The Dark Knight Rises" if it weren't for the technical limitations.

A while back producer Emma Thomas told us that we would likely see around 45-50 minutes of 'Rises' in IMAX....

But a new article in The Wall Street Journal says 'Rises' will "contain the most IMAX footage ever for a Hollywood feature, more than one hour's worth".

Nolan on his initial desire to shoot in the format - "There was a huge irony that we were told it would be too difficult to shoot a Hollywood movie on IMAX when we had this gigantic camera department, grips, electric, hundreds of people working for us. These were cameras that had been to the top of Mount Everest, to the bottom of the ocean and into outer space, but people thought we couldn't make a feature film. It was absurd."

Christian Bale Tom Hardy Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt Marion Cotillard Josh Pence, Alon Aboutboul and Nestor Carbonell star along with a return of the trilogy's ensemble cast such as Morgan Freeman Gary Oldman and Michael Caine Cillian Murphy and Liam Neeson might also be making cameos

Matthew Modine Tom Conti Joey King Daniel Sunjata Diego Klattenhoff Christopher Judge "CSI: Miami" co-star Adam Rodriguez and Burn Gorman take on secondary roles. Rob Brown and Italian actor Massi Furlan have small roles in the film as well

Nolan called action on the DKR from a screenplay he wrote with bro Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Nolan and David S. Goyer that features Bane (Hardy) and Catwoman (Hathaway) plotting to take down Batman (Bale).

The sequel is set to hit theaters on July 20th, 2012.
