"Donnie Brasco" and "Quiz Show" scribe Paul Attanasio will re-write the script for the latest version of Scarface says Deadline.
The new film will combine elements of the 1932 original and Brian de Palma's 1983 remake but setting it all within the modern crime world.
Like those other classic films this updated version will follow an immigrant outsider who climbs his way up to become a criminal kingpin. To reach his goal--he uses any means he can.
The first film was about an Italian taking over organised crime in 30's Chicago, the remake was about the cocaine trade in Miami in the 80's. The new setting has not been revealed.
Marc Shmuger and Martin Bregman are producing the film.
"Training Day" writer/director David Ayer penned the previous draft.
