Chernin Entertainment has obtained the film rights to "Thor" and "Star Trek Into Darkness" art director Kasra Farahani's new sci-fi short film "Noon" says Heat Vision.
The story is set two centuries in the future where, due to a shift in the Earth’s axis, the Arctic is one of the only inhabitable lands left, although it is in a perpetual state of day. The short focuses on a man who facilitates the transfer of illegal immigrants in Noon, the largest city-state on the continent.
Unlike other shorts of this type, the sci-fi elements are restrained, the focus instead on character and suspense.
Peter Chernin will develop the project internally and hire a writer to pen the adapted script shortly.
