Vikander Puts The Machine In Garland's "Ex Machina"

"Anna Karenina" star Alicia Vikander is in talks to play the female lead indie robot thriller "Ex Machina" says The Wrap.

The story follows a billionaire programmer (Oscar Isaac) who handpicks a young employee (Domhnall Gleeson) to spend a week at his remote estate and participate in a test involving his latest invention – an artificially intelligent female robot (Vikander).

Vikander is said to have beat out Felicity Jones.

"Dredd" reboot writer Alex Garland will make his film directorial debut here using his screenplay.

Eli Bush, Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich and Scott Rudin will produce the film.

Production hopes to begin by early Fall.

Despite the name similarity, this is NOT connected to the comic from Brian K. Vaughan which is itself being adapted for the big screen
