Benicio del Toro Tipped For Villeneuve's "Sicario"

Benicio del Toro is in final negotiations to join Denis Villeneuve's crime thriller "Sicario" says Variety.

The Taylor Sheridan conceived story deals with a murky legal loophole that allows mercenaries to cross into Mexico to corral drug kingpins, as long as they are accompanied by a legitimate law officer. The officer is a Tucson female cop who is joining two delta force-type rangers trying to apprehend a drug lord. Once across, she encounters violence and depravity like she never imagined.

No details have been provided regarding co-star Emily Blunt or Del Toro's characters.

Basil Iwanyk, Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill will produce the film

 Production begins this summer.

Villeneuve will film this before jumping onto the film adaptation of author Ted Chiang's award-winning sci=fi novella "Story of Your Life" starring Amy Adams.
