Felicity Jones Is A "Monster Calls" Mom

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 co-star Felicity Jones has joined the cast of the film adaptation of author Patrick Ness' award-winning children's fantasy novel "A Monster Calls" says Deadline.

The story follows a young boy who attempts to deal with the illness of his mother (Jones) and the bullying of classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales.

Liam Neeson is being courted to play the Monster--The young boy role is as yet uncast.

Ness is writing the adapted screenplay for Spanish helmer Juan Antonio Bayona.

Belén Atienza will produce the project.

The film lands in theaters on October 14, 2016.
