Tom Hardy plays both Ronald & Reginald Kray, the identical twins who became infamous for their criminal exploits in London during the 1950s and 1960s.
The film would focus on the life of Reggie Kray, older by 10 minutes, who sought to control the psychotic tendencies of his younger twin Ronnie who was both openly bisexual and likely had paranoid Schizophrenia. The brothers' gang was involved in armed robberies, arson, protection rackets, assaults, and several murders. As West End nightclub owners, they also mixed with prominent entertainers and politicians.
Browning will play a young woman who tragically falls for Reggie and marries him, hoping to change his gangster ways.
Brian Helgeland ("L.A. Confidential") is writing the script and directing the biopic.
Production begins in London later this spring and goes into summer.
