Deschanel And Yelchin Occupy A "Driftless Area"

Zooey Deschanel and Anton Yelchin  will star in the dark comedy "Driftless Area" says Variety.

Based on author Tom Drury's novel , the story follows Pierre (Yelchin), a quiet bartender who goes back to his hometown after his parents die. There, he meets the mysterious Stella (Deschanel) and falls madly in love with her. Unfortunately for him, that means he’s unwittingly sucked into a circle of fate which ultimately pits him against a volatile criminal (John Hawkes).

Ciaran Hinds and Alia Shawkat also star.

Zachary Sluser will direct using an adapted script he co-wrote with Drury.

Keith Kjarval and Aaron L. Gilbert will produce the film. Nicole Romano is exec producing.

Principal photography is scheduled to begin on May 14 in Vancouver.
