Alice Ozma's “The Reading Promise” Becomes A Movie

Variety reports that Relativity Media and Walden Media are teaming up for a film version of author Alice Ozma’s bookThe Reading Promise”.

The memoir traces how a shared passion for reading between a single father and his youngest daughter helps them navigate the ups and downs of their lives. The dad is an elementary school librarian who makes a promise with his daughter that they will read aloud together for 100 consecutive nights. They then decided to continue their tradition until the night she left for college — 3,218 nights later.

Akeelah and the Bee” writer Doug Atchison is set to write the adapted screenplay.

Ryan Kavanaugh and Deborah Giarratana will produce the film. Relativity president Tucker Tooley will serve as executive producer on the project.

I am thrilled by this news because not only is  Ozma a graduate of Rowan University which is in my :backyard but she is also a good friend of "Movie Posse" member Ryan.

Congrats Alice!
