J.C. Chandor Charts "Deepwater Horizon"

Deadline reports that J.C. Chandor ("Margin Call," "All is Lost") is in talks to helm "Deepwater Horizon". Ric Roman Waugh was poised to talks to direct the film at one point.

The story deals with the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill which became the second largest environmental disaster in U.S. history.

Matthew Sand wrote the initial script that is based on The New York Times article. Matthew Michael Carnahan wrote the most recent script draft.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing.

Production aims to begin this winter.
