Elisabeth Moss Goes After The Truth
Elisabeth Moss has joined "Truth" a film adaptation of the 2005 memoir "Truth and Duty: The Press, The President, And The Privilege Of Power" says Deadline.
The book deals with the fallout after Dan Rather (Robert Redford) reported in 2004 that former President George W. Bush had received special treatment while serving in the Air National Guard during the Vietnam War. The report that was based on documents that turned out to be forgeries and the subsequent scandal became known as "Rathergate".
Cate Blanchett is attached to play Rather's producer Mary Mapes who wrote the book. Mapes was accused of lapses in judgment and was fired, while Rather's career and reputation were tarnished.
Moss will play CBS News veteran Lucy Scott who was tasked with being Mapes' new associate producer to "run point" on the scandal.
"The Amazing Spider-Man" scribe James Vanderbilt makes his directorial debut on the film using the adapted screenplay he wrote.
Brad Fischer, William Sherak, Vanderbilt and Mikkel Bondesen are producing the film.
