Martin Campbell Tracks "Hunter Killer"

The Wrap has it that "Casino Royale" and "The Mask of Zorro" helmer Martin Campbell is in early talks to chart the long-in-development actioner Hunter Killer. This would mark his first film since "Green Lantern".

An adaptation of the novel "Firing Point" by Don Keith and George Wallace the story follows a Navy Seals team in a submarine sent on a mission to Russia to stop a renegade admiral from launching a coup--thus starting World War III.

Antoine Fuqua and Gerard Butler were previously attached to direct and star, but they went on to make Olympus Has Fallen together instead. McG was in talks to helm the movie in 2013. Phillip Noyce and Steven Quale were also linked at points along the way too.

Jamie Moss (Street Kings), Arne Schmidt (The Express), and John Kolvenbach wrote the adapted screenplay.

Neil Moritz Toby Jaffe and Ryan Kavanaugh will produce.
