Paul Reiser has signed on to join the sports drama "Game Brain" says The Hollywood Reporter.
Based upon the article in GQ the story revolves around pro football players who suffer concussions and the serious long term effects that have been revealed over the past few years. The topic has been making news of late with ex-NFL players coming forward to talk about how they have damaged their health due to concussions.
Think Michael Mann's "The Insider" but for professional sports rather than the tobacco industry.
Will Smith would play a neuropathologist who discovers the devastating side effects after repeated concussions.
Reiser will play the chair of the NFL medical committee, who attempts to stop Smith's character from releasing his study to the public and league.
Alec Baldwin, Albert Brooks and Gugu Mbatha-Raw also recently signed on.
Peter Landesman will write and direct the film.
Giannina Facio and Ridley Scott will produce.
