Fox has announced a February 12th 2016 release date for the long gestating X-Men film series spin-off movie of the Marvel hero "Deadpool".
Ryan Reynolds has long been attached to reprise the role which he previously played in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine". Then, more than a year ago, Blur Studios, Reynolds and director Tim Miller essentially do a proof of concept reel - footage that the comic's creator Rob Liefeld talked about last year.
Then last July someone's cell phone recording of the footage leaked
online. Cease and desist orders were swift but the clip was out
there - in fact some say that the leak may have been deliberate to
generate interest and measure reaction.
The studio has shuffled around more of its release schedule.
The film adaptation of the acclaimed Ubisoft "Assassin's Creed" video game series.has been taken off the schedule. Originally due out on August 7th 2015, it has been pulled from the calendar.
The reason for the delay is due to everything from script re-writes to scheduling issues involving star Michael Fassbender who plays dual roles.
Josh Trank's "Fantastic Four" reboot has been pushed back several weeks and will take over the 'Creed' slot. Originally set for June 19th next year, it will now open August 7th - taking the same early August weekend slot that proved a success for Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy".
Fox has also announced a June 19th 2015 release date for the upcoming film adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars
author John Green's book "Paper Towns"
