Variety reports that director Ang Lee, who is best known for taking on serious subject matter in his films (Heck even the one based on a comic book was pretty heavy), has decided to lighten things up a bit for his next project...

Lee is doing a comedy called Taking Woodstock based on the book by Elliot Tiber and Tom Monte that centred around the legendary 1969 Woodstock Festival & Concert

The story in the book focuses on the the man who found the venue for the iconic event near Bethel after problems caused a change in plan from its original location, and who provided the necessary music licence.

The film instead will put an everyman working at his parents' motel who, through a series of random incidents, inadvertently puts the generation-defining concert in motion.

The plan is to put the film into production before the end of the year - which means it looks like Lee's other film '09's A Little Game appears to have been put on the back burner.

Can Lee pull this off??
